As I suspected, thank you. Did you use the waveform monitor / vector-scope much, or did you go by eye? Some DP's really like to use them for video shoots. I usually eye ball it, unless the content really demands it.

Did you use the waveform monitor

I had one in the DIT tent that would measure post-LUT, so I could see the waveform respond to the LUT image, to see if the blacks were set correctly, and I could switch to RAW (actually, LOG) to see where the highlights were actually exposing. But I just glanced at it now and then when I was dealing with some extreme contrast.

Hi David,

do you have any projects in the near future that you would write about? I enjoy your reports so much, it's almost like the subscription to your favorite magazine ended :)

Hope to read something soon, but only if there is enough time of course! Me and I think everyone here enjoys and learns so much from your offerings.

"United States of Tara" is my most recent project.

Lately I've been working on the D.I.'s for the two RED features I shot, "Manure" and "Stay Cool".

I leave on Tuesday to shoot three days of pick-ups for "Jennifer's Body", which means I'll be shooting film again, yeah!

As always, thank you for your reports. The notes are extremely helpful to students like myself.

And whoever put up the pirate flag on that fly swatter is hired.
