How good is a late model Rex 5 13x viewfinder? Would it benefit from Laser treatment? How do you like yours? I am thinking of getting a Rex but I need the brightest optics. Is the JK replacement of 10x to 13x as good as the late 13x? Does a JK need laser work?

I love my stock Bolex 13x viewfinder. Great contrast, bright and easy to focus. It has been customized and frames the 1:2.8 aspect ratio of UltraPan8.

On jkcamera doesn't exactly say it: someone knows or has upgraded the viewfinder of a Rex 4, but H8?

I think a H8 has to be converted to double super 8mm to get the viewfinder upgrade.

Only with DS8 convertion, yes. Too bad, it would be good to improve even the normal H8.

Is not the replacement viewfinder sold as is and you screw it on yourself? I believe that is one of the options. Not the option to rebuild an existing viewfinder.

I am learning more about this.
The ground glass is inside the camera body, not in the viewfinder. Both could be replaced.

Yes, Michael, on some sites it's spoken replacing of inside the camera body it's true.

The ground glass is the upper surface of the beamsplitter prism. It's one piece.
