Will I need extra gear for the dolly op? I want to track with someone to a stairway then have the operator step off and follow up the stairs.  Using a Matthews Round-D-Round Dolly. Will this work?

You can do it, although is there a reason not to be able to just track with the Steadicam?.

You need to plan the step off so that there isn't a noticeable drop in lens when the operator steps off the dolly and then goes up the stairs.

Camera operator should have something to lean on, on the dolly. If moving slow enough, might be ok without it, but I wouldn't do it without some kind of bar to lean on.
