Does anyone here have a preference of filter manufacturer?

Can anyone comment on the effectiveness of the Shneider polarisers compared in quality and result with the Tiffen ones?

They both do the job.

The two things I don't like about the Tiffen filters are: 1) they are thicker than other brands and 2) they don't have a metal frame so they chip easier.

I've taken to getting Formatt filters including a linear polariser. They're a little cheaper, very high quality and are thin and have a frame. I have a few Tiffen filters (Pro-mists and ultra-cons) and they don't slide easily into my matte boxes.
