This is a nice soft source. one way of making it even softer is to make the sides of it ,that are above the silk, white by using foam core or beadboard. as well you can angle them towards the top of the rig so that they are actually bouncing some of the light back down through the silk. we call this a "chicken coop". I've made them for features out of foam core, 2"x1/4" wood (to screw in the porcelien sockets) and lots of black paper tape. you can also screw in a 750 pidgeon plate on the top for easy rigging. it is lightwieght and surprisingly sturdy. This is great for table top and for overhead above actors sitting around a table. Sorry i don't have pictures.

good luck

I love the the fact that you are builing a soft box. I think it is great. My friend and I are designing a 4 by 4 soft that we can design in Feburary.
Congratulations
