Hi. I'm wanting to get a shoulder brace for my Arriflex 16BL and I don't want to buy the Arriflex made system from way back when because it looks goofy. What about the aftermarket shoulder braces + steadicam type systems for video cameras that are a few hundred bucks. I want rock steadiness plus I don't want to pay more than $500. Suggestions?

No chance.

That camera is far too heavy for those little rigs. Also, you won't ever get rock-steady, just reduced arm fatigue.
