Will 35mm reels (Split and/ or regular reels) work on 16mm rewinders?

Yes

I assume you mean proper rewinds, Moviola, Hollywood etc

Of course the 35mm splits won't fit on the 'short shafts' made for 16..

If you have the shorter shafts designed for the narrower 16mm reels, you may not be able to close the hinged latch on the spindle, and may need to be sure the 35mm reel does not "walk" off the shaft. You may be able to buy longer spindles for 35mm reels.

Great thanks, the diameter of the center hole though is the same then, only the shaft lengths are different, right?
