Not a black and White thing but the only known black dp's I know of are Arthur Jafa(Daughters of the Dust) and Ernest Dickerson just wondering are there any other African American dp's working in Feature or commercial work.
Also Mr.Greene but other than these 3 I don't know of anyone.

I"m sure there are many more names [in fact I'm sure of it, as I recall a recent American Cinematographer magazine that cover an independent film lensed by an African-American cinematographer] but these are the men and woman whose name I can think of right now.

Ernest Dickerson, ASC

Bill Dill, ASC

Johnny Simmons, ASC

Donald A. Morgan, ASC

Arthur Jafa

Malik Hassan Sayeed

Larry Banks

Keith L. Smith

Charles Burnett [more of a director now, but he used to DP his own films as well as those for Julie Dash and other filmmakers at UCLA]

Tommy Maddox-Upshaw

Tenolian Bell

Sylvia Jackson

There are also many African-Americans in the union working as camera operators and camera assistants. Steadicam/A Camera operator Kirk Gardner is an amazing operator. And one of the most respected and in demand 1st ACs in the industry is Baird Steptoe.

The art and craft of cinematography is a global so I'm sure there are dozens of men and women of African descent who are citizens of film industry inclined countries like Senegal, Ethiopia, South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Cote d'Ivoire, Cuba, Brazil, Jamaica, France, Canada, United Kingdom, etc., who also make their living as cinematographers.
