There are also many African-Americans in the union working as camera operators and camera assistants. Steadicam/A Camera operator Kirk Gardner is an amazing operator. And one of the most respected and in demand 1st ACs in the industry is Baird Steptoe.
The art and craft of cinematography is a global so I'm sure there are dozens of men and women of African descent who are citizens of film industry inclined countries like Senegal, Ethiopia, South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Cote d'Ivoire, Cuba, Brazil, Jamaica, France, Canada, United Kingdom, etc., who also make their living as cinematographers.
