Decode hire, a broadcast facility based at the Ealing studios in London will start offering a full Movietube 35mm lens adapter shooting kit from April 2006. The kit will consist of a Z1U camera, movietube ST adapter with shoulder mount, viewfinder, handles grips, rods, matte box, follow focus, ronford tripod with tall and short legs, 7inch high res LCD monitor and most probably a set of 5x 35mm prime lenses. The kit can be hired with the Z1 camera or without as it has an universal mount and can be fit onto pretty much any small camera.

They have lots of equipment for hire, dollies, jibs, lights, etc. Anyone considering to shoot a short, music promo, low budget feature, etc, in the UK should consider giving them a call. As far as I know they are trying to work out a deal to offer 35mm lenses as part of a package. That would be cool because it would bring the rates down as you wouldn't have to go to a big rental house.

I've seen stuff shot on the Movietube and it is just plain awesome. The kit works with any 1/3 inch CCD DV/HDV camera except with the canon XL1S type.

We had a massive problem with our ISP over the weekend but it is all now solved and working. Let us know if you want to come along for a test
