Is there a way to approximate the foot candles a light puts off when bounced off a white surface? I'm trying to determind how many footcandles a 12k HMI would give off when bounced off foamcore. The subject would be about 15ft away from the bounce.

Thanks

How far away is the light from the bounce? How big is the bounce? Is the light flooded or spotted? All the variables will affect the fc's at the subject.

How many footcandles are you hoping for? Maybe we could help you determine if your prop0sed setup will get you there.

Around 700 fc. The light would be just far enough from a 4x4 bounce to use the whole board. I need it for a large key on an actor and a car turned longways. I was planning on using the sun as a 3/4 backlight. Other suggestions welcome.

thanks

Go to your rental house with your gaffer, set it up and take a look. Bring some refreshments.
