I am responding to my own topic here as my impression of lens files is making the proper adjustments to the camera to match the characteristics of any given lens as there optics and color reproduction may vary. If this is the case I am wondering how many of you are using lens files and how much of a difference is really noticble?

I believe the lens files are just text files that allow you to store your flare settings for individual lenses. You still have to physically re-do the settings each time you switch lenses, though. So unlike storing your menu settings on a flash card which the camera can read and set-up for you, this is just stored text, IIRC.
