Hi,

when i read through the latest AC issue today i was wondering, how come no DOP's "advertise" themselve in the classified section at the back ? Like :" John Doe, DOP for music videos and commercials, specialized in 35mm and HD, see homepage for showreel, taking on assignments NOW !"
Or camera assistants, or focus pullers.....

does the AC magazine ban such ads ?

In the older mags there used to be some ads by steadicam operators, but not recently anymore. Maybe the prices got just too high. And to be honest, if you are a good Dop or steadicam operator, your work should speak for itself and people should be aware of you already without you having to advertise yourself. After all that is what credits are for.

i agree what you say about ones work, but i think it could be a good opportunityto present yourself in a different market ? for example european dops that want to work in america or something.
after all the ac is read everywhere :)
