I was wondering what you guys thought of this deal from pro8mm.com

http://pro8mm.com/Me...Product_Count=2

500 ft of 16mm for $436 including processing and transfer.

Has anyone here ever dealt with pro8mm before? Are they reputable? Let me know if this package deal is worth it or whether I'm better off just buying 5 100ft spools from Kodak and then getting it processed somewhere else...
thanks!

Well the catalog listed price of 100-foot rolls of 16mm 7218 from Kodak is $36.48. So direct from Kodak, the list price of 500 feet of 16mm is $182.40 (before any discounts). So now you can price out processing and transfer services and compare.

Hi-

I'm no hater, but I have yet to see a decent transfer from pro8mm. Look up pro8mm on this site and on other boards. This is not just my experience.... You will find the consensus is that pro8 doesn't put too much value in transfers for "regular" folk. Great cameras, if overpriced, same film stock, if overpriced, as kodak and the transfers suck. Bad.

I'd buy the stock as cheap as I could and have it processed and transferred by a company who treats every customer the same. Even if it ends up being $50 or so more, you won't regret it. Try Flying Spot out of Seattle or something, there are tons of places, just check the boards...Just my .02 worth. B)
