hello can anyone recommend me with any good light meters?
ive never owned one and want to start building up some equipment to start off with

im after a good light meter and a spot meter
can you point me to any good brands to look at or any info will be good

also just to confirm is there no difference with a light meter for stills photography and motion picture?

You should run a search in the forums, and read the long-and-never-ending answers for this always-question. Also check the cinemaography.net webpage, they have also a lot to read.
For a fast answer, I shoot stills, video and film; my favourites: Spectra IVA, Minolta F spot, Pentax digital Spotmeter. I have one of each. I also own a few more, the Sekonic 558 Cine as a back up of my back ups. DonĀ“t buy them all. If you are starting the sekonic is a great meter that many pro's are using.
