Say you shot a spec. ad. What next? Try to contact the ad agency for that product and get them to look at it? Is that the way to break into commerical market?

Great topic,

I am studying Marketing Administration-seeking to concentrate on advertising (film/tv,radio, and some print.) I would say start local but you could also send your stuff to an ad agencies to get your name out there. This quarter, one of the courses I am taking is entreprenuership and one of the requirments is to complete a bplan (my will hope include photos of a mock spec. plus some other stuff.) But a few companies you may know of is

Spike-DDB
Mcann-Erickson
Arnold Worldwide
also Check out Effie.org(show national award winners who created"effective marketing campaigns.)
get business cards to local Chamber of commerce.
and Adweek.com
If I were you I would talk to local business owners especially if there is a local tv station where you live and try to produce to move creative spots you can(offering to do for free but have the the owner to fund a small project.) Many small co's fail mainly b/c of lack of capital, bad record keeping, and fair to satisfy customers(marketing.) so try to sell the value of a good commercial placed during the right drive time.

hope I helped in some way.
