I have an Arri S and the on/off switch on the cover plate keeps on sticking. Instead of switching off, it stays in the on postion and i have to force the switch up to turn it off.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Thanks

Does anything appear bent?

So what you are saying is that when you push the release lever in, instead of the switch popping back up, it stays in the down position, therefore keeping the camera running?

Did someone try to put the camera door back on the camera when the power switch was depressed? This could have bent the plunger that slides down into the camera to activate the internal on/off switch.

That or is the switch mechanism rusted? I have seen that on a few cameras.

If you take the camera door off of the camera, and hold the release button/lever in, you should be able to push the power button down and it should spring back up as you release it. It should slide up and down smoothly. If it does not, check to see if you can see anything bent or rusted.

I had the same problem with a bent plunger once -- I managed to fix it just by "exercising" it a bunch.

Otherwise you'll have to straighten it or get someone to do it.

If you have a switch on tthe power cable of course you can use that for now...
