Unique drama feature.

Wow. Good luck finding someone that can actually send you a reel of film. That puts every DP I've ever heard of out of the running. So you actually have 35mm and 16mm projectors in your office awaiting the reels to arrive?

He probably means that he wants to see DVD's of images that were shot on film and not on video.

I would assume that you're correct, but this statement seems to state the exact opposite:
"Interested in film based reels only. Online and video reels can't be considered."

What this statement says to me is that this person doesn't know what he/she is talking about, which isn't exactly what you're looking for when starting a new project.

Obviously it means we want DVD's of film based work. If you couldn't gather that, then there's no reason to bother applying. And actually we do have free access to 16 and 35mm projectors in case we got a film reel. We knew posting a job on a forum would only invite trouble from frustrated people. Check Mandy for ad as well. This log-in account will no longer be active or checked.

Wow. So, "Online and video reels can't be considered" suddenly means that you want DVD's (obviously). Last time I checked DVD's were video....but what do I know?
If you knew posting on a forum would invite trouble, then why did you do it? Are you so desperate that you're willing to invite trouble? Or are you so unexperienced that you feel you have to be defensive when someone questions you?
As for applying....I wouldn't even consider it, and I don't think anyone else should either. It sounds like a nightmare in the making.

I guess it's a matter of semantics and interpretation of the original poster.

*Online and videoreels* may mean the director can't view the nuances from a quicktime and isn't interested
in videographers.

I got to this point in my reply and realised the original poster had logged off anyway in a huff and thought I may as well do the same!

cheers,

R,

I didn't scare anyone off. Anyone who wants can still send them their reel.
The fact that the poster said they had free access to projectors "in case they get a film reel" should tell you that they don't know what they're talking about. And like I said before, it's never a good thing when you're trying to get a job from someone who doesn't know what they're doing.
The original post was unclear (of course we can all ASSUME what it meant). What does it tell you when someone can't even write a proper job posting? How good will the communication be when you're actually working with them? This is all I was trying to point out, and I was trying to point it out for the sake of everyone else on this forum who was considering applying. If that makes me the a**ho**, well then....I guess I'm the a**ho**.

Firstly, the person registered and posted without using their name.

Then his 'Obviously...' and 'If you couldn't gather that, then there's no reason...' comments do a pretty good job of illustrating what it might be like to take direction from him, if he is in fact the director.

IMO this person was not mistreated here.

Haha, my favorite part is how they're looking for someone with a "Low ego."

You can't really dismiss someone for knowing the difference between film and video...

Thanks Tim. I was beginning to think I was crazy. At least one or two people agree with me now and then. ;)
