Howdy,

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on getting a Beaulieu R16 serviced in Australia - as in, ideally within Australia. I'm based in Melbourne. It seems to be in quite good nick but it hasn't been used for some years so I was thinking of trying to get it, well, serviced. There's a company called "Beaulieu Cinema Video Services" down in Moorabbin, anyone heard of them? Otherwise, anyone know of a reliable company/individual capable of servicing this little camera?

This is probably something of a long shot, but I just had to ask...

Regards,
Tom Hayes

You could try contacting Bruce McNaughton @ Aranda (who is also a member of these forums). I'm not sure if he does what you are after, but if not, he might be able to point you towards someone who does.

Beaulieu Cinema Services is Milan Smetak - I've used him a number of times for both my R16 and my 4008 (which I've since sold) -- I've found him very good - do you need his contact details?

That's OK, I've got his details. Just curious, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of work has he done on your R16, and what kind of prices has he charged you?

Hi Thomas,

The company i'm a camera tech for had recently sent a 4008 super 8 camera to him for service.(although 95% or our repairs are done in house, we occasionally send some cameras to specialists, that is if there are any in Australia!)

The camera was completely overhaulled including new ground glass & the battery mod. I thoroughly checked the camera in the workshop and it looked like a good job was done. It wasn't cheap though, from what i remember about AU800ish?? Maybe more, i'm not exactly sure....

Best thing would be to call him. I think he's an older german guy so his english might not be the best but "older germans" tend to be great techs.... He probably knows your model inside out & generally they have a standard overhaul price plus any extra parts needed.

Hope this of help!
