converting HDV30i to HDV25i old school

Is it possible to convert footage shot with the Sony HVR A1U shot at HDV 30i to HDV 25i by connecting to Sony HVR Z1U through 4-pin firewire and recording like tape to tape? Then the material would be ready for ingesting uncompressed HDV 1080 25i in FCP. Or, am I dreaming?

FCP will do the conversion for you. Insert the shots into your 25fps timeline and render it. I've done it a few times. It doesn't look great but it works.
