The International Cinematographers Guild (ICG)
has announced that 11 films have been selected out of some 80 submissions for
its 10th Annual Film Showcase. The 2006 ICG Film Showcase will premiere here
at 3pm on Sunday, July 23, at the Directors Guild of America Theater (7920
Sunset Blvd.). The screening is free of charge and open to the public.

"The Showcase provides an opportunity for the next generation to put
their talent on public display," says Rob Kositchek, who chairs the annual
competition. "There is a deep reservoir of talent in the ICG membership that
bodes well for the future of our industry. All of these short films are
engaging, entertaining and skillfully executed original works of art."

The films selected for the Showcase
THE FOURTH (Damian Acevedo),
A CIGAR AT THE BEACH (Michael Alba),
WITCHWISE (Christos Bitsakos),
KILLING TIME (Joel Deutsch),
THE FIX (Nathaniel Goodman),
THE PASSAGE OF MRS. CALABASH (Dan Hertzog),
A PIECE OF EARTH (Hilda Mercado),
RUMBERO (Scott Peck),
LAYING DOWN ARMS (Christopher Probst),
MACHINE SHOP (David Tumblety) and
JUNE AND ORLANDO (David Waldman).

Kositchek, a camera operator and Guild member, conceived the idea for
the annual Showcase in 1997. He envisioned creating a platform where camera
crew members, who are aspiring cinematographers, could showcase their talent.
Kositchek notes that many crew members shoot short films as a way to sharpen
their skills, hone their creative instincts, and form collaborative
relationships with writers, directors and other aspiring moviemakers.

The only requirement is that entries must be 30 minutes or less. Judging
is done by a peer group of Guild cinematographers, assistants and operators
who evaluate the artistic contributions made by the cinematographers.

Additional screenings will be slated in other cities around the country.
Kodak has sponsored the ICG Showcase screenings since their inception. For
