It seems like there is a trend going with a lot of commercials I see... a greenish tone with some overexposure. Is this done with processing, maybe skip bleach or something? seems like a band wagon issue.

Commercials are notorious for the "color of the month," usually done in telecine.

I'd say the green look is kind of over - ut was the rage for awhile a couple of years ago, but I haven't seen it very much recently.

Generally, the grades are pretty straightforward and middle-of-the-road these days and more feature-like. It looks alike the 'extremely cool and pushed grade' of yesteryear has been replaced by more subtle grades.
