Disco strobing

Hello all,
Scene involved in a night club, the director at a particular moment wants a strobe to occur. Referencing Aliens, he believes that a single strobe unit in front of camera to light actor will suffice. I have explained that this would only isolate the effect to the proximity to the foreground.
Question 1, I am working with low light levels, will strobes capture on video well enough to sell disco strobing?
Question 2, if multiple strobes are required, do I have problems with them being out of syncopation with each other?
Question 3, Colour temp?
Question 4, any advice or reference films for night clubs?
