Just wanted to post an update on the status of the new studio and post facilities at Chapman. The equipment is moving into place now and the studios and post production facilities will be opening mid August. Here are the latest annnouncements on the specs of the new location.

Production facilities

5,000-square-foot and 2,500-square-foot sound stages equipped with a movable DiSisti lighting grid
A directing/cinematography insert stage
A high definition television/broadcast journalism stage
Motion capture stage equipped with Vicon MX motion capture system
Green screen
Hair and makeup facilities
Location equipment includes
16mm, S16mm and 35mm cameras
MiniDV, DVCPRO, P2 and HDCAM video cameras
A large array of grip and lighting packages including dollies, HMIs and more
Digital location sound recording packages


Post-production facilities

4K Digital intermediate capabilities with the Grass Valley Spirit 4K scanner
Digital cinema mastering
Panasonic D5 HD mastering VTRs
34 individual editing rooms equipped with Avid Media Composer, Symphony and DS Nitris and Digidesign Pro Tools LE
Digital storage of all media assets by a 128-terabyte server, which enables student work to be viewed in edit suites, classrooms, and faculty offices
Graphics, animation and compositing capabilities with Adobe CS, Maya 3D Studio Max, Motion builder and more
Foley stage designed by foley experts at Warner Bros. including deep and shallow water tanks and several dry pits
500 seat Main mix stage with a Digidesign ICON mixing console and Dolby and DTS 5.1 surround audio
Two secondary mixing and color correction stages with Digidesign ICON consoles and Scratch color correction systems
Two computer labs with Avid Media Composer, Digidesign Pro Tools LE, graphics, titling and pre-production software.
