What is a good program to edit HD?

I have recently switched over to HD and I am looking for a good program to edit HD.

Well, first what computer system are you running and what form of HD are you shooting? I would recommend something different if you were on a PC as opposed to a Mac.

But off the cuff I always recommend Final Cut Pro (the latest version is 5.1) which only runs on a mac. The latest version of FCP supports most HDV codecs out. Also most HDV codecs coming out now support importing through firewire and on a beginners budget that is the way to go. So if your shooting one that does like Panasonic and Sony your set (im sure JVC and Canon do as well just not as familiar with them). There are obviously higher quality ways of importing HD but they are signigicantly more expensive.
