sorry for the off-topic question, but does anyone know what the official DGA policy is regarding a film directed by two persons as a team, when referring to just one of those two persons?

for example, if a feature titled "Hypothetica" is directed by Jay Doe and Alana Smithee... when someone or something in print is mentioning just Jay Doe, is it okay to refer to them as the "director" of Hypothetica, or is it deemed necessary to always refer to them as "co-director"?
