For any fans of the classic film "The Warriors" the low-key "special edition" has some excellent features. Best of these is a generous helping of cinematographer Andrew Laszlo's recollections of filming on the, mostly night, shoot with a pretty tight budget. There are some good examples of low budget bodging utilising a wide range of sources to get that extra stop. Hanging domestic clip-lights in trees, making fixtures from the lights used by the metro trains, all good stuff.

Its good to see that DVD producers are increasingly getting it into their heads that the DoP, as with other creative HoD, can bring a lot of good material to any package. With a senior position but, generally ego free, they are a wealth of facts and, naturally, have a passion for their work.

I'll have to look into buying this "Special Edition" now. Thanks for the heads up!
