I don?t think the XL cameras have flip out screens. So I think you will need an external monitor.

I've used a vx2000 and DVX, I don't know about the XL. If it is an XL2, I guess you could flip open the eyepiece. Would the lens make it too front heavy?

The XL2 and XL H1 are quite heavy cameras (About 10 pounds). So if you put them on the Glidecam 4000, your arms will get tire quite fast. You may want to invest in the Glidecam Smooth Shooter which consists of a body vest and arm that you wear. Note that the XL2 and XL H1 does not have a standard flip out screen, (although you can open up the eye piece to get a 2" screen) so you may need to estimate where the camera is pointing to.

I use the Gldiecam V-16 for my XL1. This includes the 7" monitor that goes on the sled. The whole set up wieghts in under 25 pounds!!! My back!!!!

Good luck
