ARRI nearly produced a camera called the DS8, does anyone know what happened to this camera, and why it was never produced ?

-Matthew Buick

What I do know is that there were 10 prototypes produced.

Hell you could probably convert a Piper Cub or a hash pipe into a DS8 camera, too, but why bother? There are a jillion Super8 cameras out there, just use one of those.

That's good, because the hash pipe to DS8 conversions have very hard to clean gates. :P

What about installing a hash pipe on an ArriDS8?
It would function as a variable haze filter.

i know i should keep the forum on the hash pipe line but if there's any interest in DS8, I bought a few FOMA DS8 rolls and developed them 'reversal' and I really like the results. If anyone has a DS8 camera, maybe it would be worth checking the Jandcphoto website. The rolls are very cheap. Another idea is to split the film in a dark room and load reloadable super8 cartridges (http://www.geocities...artr_manual.htm). Reloadable cartridges are very nice and because of the metal plate they produce pictres steadier than disposable ones.
