Hi,

I have been looking around for a turntable to shoot some food shots on S16 film.

So far, the best thing I can find is this:

The ModelXT-100 can go from .5 rpm to 2.0 rpm. The company told me the movement is very smooth. The cost is around $1,000.

Can anyone recommend any other suggestions for $1,000 or less.

The no-budget version, a smooth spinning chair with a length of string to spin it smoothly like a top. Just used that for a spinning globe in a music video.

Did you think of this?

This is the first place I would have checked.

I have one. It's sort of organically put together by a tech guy I know. Variable speed flexibility is very important, so is being able to center the product you are filming as quickly and easily as possible, as is the amount of weight it can handle. Ask a local jeweler to see if they know of any turntables since those are quite common in the jewelry business, although moreso in commercials than actually in stores.
