Pure White Base

I 've read DVD reviews where the colors in the video transfer are described has having a "pure white base". I would like to hear from colorists if there is any other kind?

Nothing wrong with your question. I think others like me have never heard of this term so nothing to add. I suspect its just a bit of spin or an artistic interpretation rather than any clues to the technicalities.

My guess of what a PWB means is an image without lowered contrast levels and tint filters that alter the overall vividness of basic shades. God I really do sound like someone who doesn't know what they're talking about.
