hi,
I am about to shoot a short flm in morocco and after talking to the lab we are thnking about trying to do a 2K DI. The thing is they have never done it before so i am a bit afraid, and would like to know your opinions about the process.
- Shoot 1.85 Super35 3Perf
- Scan 2K with Oxberry Cinescan 6400
- Color Grade at Avid DS Nitris Version 7.5 (IS this a good enough tool for grading?)
- Celco to go back to 35

Please if you have experience about the process before or about some part of it reply. I need to make a decision very soon.

Hi,

That ought to work in the broad strokes. There's a lot of subtlety to this, particularly in the are of colour control, and you don't mention what measures might be in place to ensure that what you see on the grading monitor is what you get on the print.

Nitris isn't really designed to be a grading tool, but you could muddle through.

The post man at the lab says the tft monitor is showing the final film look, as i think they have calibrated by the eye.
Is there any color grading plug-in like color finesse for avid nitris?
the problem with nitris is it wont do selective color grading by itself. i think i cant do color grading masks
