A prime lens would be best, particularly if you're using a Kowa 16S.

The Kowa 16H AKA 8Z would be best for a zoom because it has a larger rear element.
But you'll still get vignetting at the wide end of the zoom.

With primes you'll be able to get a wider angle than with a zoom.
Even then don't expect to be able to use anything shorter than 12mm or 15mm.
A 10mm would be good, but probably won't work.

With a zoom lens you get vignetting already in tele-range. For wide-angle you need a prime, it depends the lens and the adapter. The Kowa 16H (8Z) goes widest, with a prime lens in super8 you can go as far as 10mm, this works on my leicina with the 10mm prime schneider... the 16-S is vigneting with a 10mm-prime.

I'd say with the 16-S you need somthing like a 16mm-prime or longer, but I'm not sure I never tried this...

If I'm not wrong the front diameter of the schneider zoom on beaulieus is langer than the rear diameter of the Kowa 16-S, so anyway the 16-S wouldn't work with the schneider zoom...

For use with anamorphic-adaptor I'd get some C-mount primes between 10mm and 25mm (Angenieux or Schneider), they're quiet cheap. Your camera will be not as bulky with this than with the zoomlens plus the anamorphic adaptor...

cheers... Bernhard
