Hi, I picked up electric shadows by Jiang Xiao, cinematography by Yang Lun (raising the red lantern). The incredible quality of the image has left me with many a question. Whites are milky, out of focus and washed out, but this in no affects overall contrast and sharpness of the picture. I was wondering if any of you know of a filter, technique that would do such a thing. I know about soft filters but they tend to bleed out onto the rest of the image, would stockings do something like this??? Combination of filters??? Any leads will be appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

While I am at it, I also would like infos on contrast filters, any links to a website that shows before and after photos??

Carey Duffy's South London Filters Site shows examples of certain filters. http://www.camerafilters.co.uk/
Also look at the Tiffen and Schneider sites
