hello,

I have a few questions regarding tape formats and recording data.

First. whether the quality of DigiBeta is better than DV?
Second, What is the data rate of DigiBeta?

Lastly is direct hard disk recording better than tape acquisition, even if a tape that records data without any compression is used?

Thank you.

Hi,

Digibeta is far better than DV, no contest.

Uncompressed or D1 v DigiBeta, better for what?

An uncompressed SDI signal is just that.

Hey ya Actually I searched a few docs and found that the data rate of DigiBeta is 90Mbps as opposed to 25Mbps of DV. So that does make DigiBeta better than Dv? Is data rate the only criteria?

And what abt tape or tapeless recording of video.

Thnx

Digibeta is significantly better than DV. It's about 2:1 compression, rather than 5:1 and is certainly better than visually lossless over multiple generations.

Digibeta is 10bit quantisation, 4:2:2 chroma sampling compared to DV which is 8bit and 4:1:1 (or 4:2:0 in PAL land).
