Interesting Auction at Christies, South Kensington, London, to include a huge collection of motion picture cameras - eg the Mitchell No.66 from King Kong

Hi,

I think I will sell my Mitchell if it's worth £40-60,000!

Mitchell no 4 sold for about $4,000 a couple of years ago & they usually make $2-3000 on Ebay now.

That is a huge camera.

The slanted top edge on the Technicolor blimp indicates it's a Vistavision/Technirama blimp.
The camera has been modified from 3-strip to VistaVision and takes a 2000' magazine.
So it is probably still usable.

The 'King Kong' Mitchell is so expensive because it has historicity. See PKDick's 'Man in the High Castle' for a complete explanation.
