Question about HDCAM SR tapes

So, if I use a HDC-F950 with an HDCAM tape (as opposed to a HDCAM SR) will it totally nullify any advantage of shooting with the HDCF950 over the F900? Or is it still preferable (any other advantages) to shoot on the 950?


The reason I ask is because I am shooting in China where, although I have SR tapes, apparently China does not have any SR recorders. <shrug>
