I have an art installation based entirely on shutterless super 8 footage opening this Thursday, November 23, at Trinity Square Video in Toronto. It will be up until December 20.

It is called "Pulse of Light" and will be a 5-minute video loop. The idea was to record different light sources, shutterless, and document the different shapes the lights take, since fluorescent, neon and sodium vapour literally pulse on the film.

I plan to write something for Super 8 Today about it. If you are in the area check it out.

It's part of a broader, multi-day event organized by film co-op LIFT : "Film is Dead, Long Live Film." It's LIFT's response to an article in Canadian Art magazine a while back that declared film dead. The mandate was non-conventional uses of film.
