SOCIETY OF CAMERA OPERATORS HOLDS 2007 LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS.
The SOC honors Haskell Wexler, ASC, with SOC Governors? Lifetime Achievement and Denny Clairmont with SOC President?s Lifetime Achievement awards.

December 1, 2006 ? Toluca Lake, Calif. -? The Society of Camera Operators, the honorary society recognized for its high caliber of active camera operator members, associate members, and corporate affiliates, continues its tradition of honoring the best and the brightest in the industry at its Lifetime Achievement Awards on Saturday January 20th, 2007 held at the Leonard Goldenson Theater of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

?With great pleasure I can announce that the Board of Governors has chosen distinguished cinematographer, Haskell Wexler, ASC, to receive their Lifetime Achievement Award,? said David J. Frederick, SOC President. I am also excited to announce that the President?s Lifetime Achievement Award is going to a major SOC supporter and industry stalwart, Denny Clairmont, President and co-founder of Clairmont Camera in North Hollywood.?

The SOC has held an awards event since 1981 with such recipients of the Governors award as John Huston, Steven Spielberg, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Kathleen Kennedy, Ron Howard, Robert Wise and Sidney Poitier. The event will be held in a more presentation rich environment this year in the beautiful theater of the Television Academy. ?I am expecting an enormous turnout from our membership and the industry this year since it is more affordable and will be a much tighter awards show than those in the past in banquet halls,? says show producer Frederick.

Begun in 1979 as the Society of Operating Cameramen and incorporated in 1981 in California as a nonprofit charitable organization, The Society of Camera Operators (name changed in 2000) advances the art and creative contributions of the camera operator in the Motion Picture and Television Industries. The Society (SOC) brings industry leaders and cinematic artists into the closest confederation.

Vision, the essential ingredient that we as Camera Operators use in our work, bonds us to children with vision problems. SOC dedicates its full support to the Eye Care Clinic at Children?s Hospital Los Angeles. The SOC meets this challenge with proceeds from the Lifetime Achievement Awards Gala.

For more information on how to participate in this exciting celebration of Lifetime Achievement, and to contribute to our goal of support to the Childrens Hospital Eye Care Clinic, please contact the SOC. Our website is www.soc.org or email pres@soc.org. Please join us in celebrating the art and craft of the camera operator at The 2007 Society of Camera Operators Lifetime Achievement Awards.
