Does anyone know about the new hawk anamorphic lenses?

Are they faster then the earlier ones? How are the better then the ones before?

Judging from the specs, they basically went physically larger & heavier... probably in order to solve some of the distortion problems of the Hawk "Compacts" (what they are calling the old Hawks.) I'd expect the new ones to be more contrasty (maybe), slightly sharper (maybe), but mainly with less barrel distortion (most likely). You also expect, like with the large Primo anamorphics, that they would hold up better when shot wide-open than the older anamorphics do.

You can compare the specs at the Vantage Films website:

Has anyone seen Blood Diamond? Although IMDB technical specs are notoriously inaccurate, it was interesting to see Hawk-V Anamorphic as the lens credit, see: http://www.imdb.com/...50259/technical
