I was informed that Dan Sasaki the Lens Guru from Panavision Woodland Hills is leaving the company for good. He is an amazing technician and optical wizard. I favor Panavision for their advanced or superior lenses and optical advice when I have the choice depending on DP. but any great DP knows Dan as do most AC's, I will need to find another contact with his ability ir at least customer service. I have found panavision to be running thin on tech's.

Any suggestions on contacts within Pana or other rental houses for technical optical advise and someone I can project with when I test for features etc.

James.

Wow, where did you here that? I just talked to Dan two days ago about a project coming up in a few months and he didn't mention that he is leaving.

I hope he isn't, he is an amazing guy, known him for years. I'll have to put a call in and see if I can find out anything.

Well I happened to be at Panavision WH today, and it is true, Dan Sasaki is leaving the company. Today is his last day.

I guess he is going freelance. He was a major asset to the company, an amazing guy. Even today, on his last (or 2nd to last) day he was helping me with lens questions and putting a particular set aside so that they could be found when he was gone.
