Hi folks,
I have an opportunity to buy a Flashmeter VI. I have used a III and a V occasionally for photo stuff and they worked great. Does anyone here have any experience with the VI for video/cine stuff?

Thanks!

Best regards, David

I've used the Vi for over a year now and wouldn't swap it for anything. Still on the original battery too (Sekonic take note)

Will buy another this week (as you've reminded me) and ebay my old V and Spotmeter F

don't hesitate...... buy it.

Thanks Tony! That helped big time. Would you consider ? 370 + S&H a good deal?

Cheers, Dave

I cant remember what I paid to be honest, bought mine in Tokyo. I think they retail around £320 in the UK, may be worth looking across the water as the $$ is so weak.

So what happened to Minolta? I'm surprised that a quick surf around most of the big photo retailers (and amazon) shows nobody is carrying Minolta meters??? Where are you folks finding them (and this model in particular)?

Minolta quit making light meters a while ago. You can get them used on ebay...

Sony purchased Minolta: http://www.engadget....the-camera-biz/

I understand Sony wanted to use the Minolta lens mount for their line of Digital SLRs.

I tried to purchase a new Minolta Color Meter IIIF last year as a backup only to find new ones were no longer available. I nearly bid on a NOS IIIF on eBay, but when I called Quality Light Metric in Hollywood to see if they could calibrate my old one I was told they can no longer calibrate the IIIF, something about the calibration software going away when Minolta closed up their operations. They advised me to get the Color Meter II, which they can still calibrate. I found and purchased two of these on eBay.

Nope, that's quite right. Sony acquired the D-SLR and camera department of Konica-Minolta. The rest is still there, but they quit making light meters. http://konicaminolta.com/

Quote from their site:
"Konica Minolta Photo Imaging, Inc. ceased the camera business on March 31, 2006.

As of April 1st, 2006, Sony Corporation is providing customer service for Konica?s, Minolta?s, and Konica Minolta?s cameras (excluding Film-In cameras) and camera-related products except for the binoculars. "

Thanks, Dave. Take a look at this: http://eservice.sony...ma/web/index.do

If you scan the service menu, they do not, unfortunately, service the Color Meters, only light and flash meters.

I could be wrong, but I recall the guy at Quality Light Metric telling me that service centers needed to link directly to Minolta to access the calibration software for the Color Meter IIIF and that's why they can no longer calibrate them.
