I recently bought an Arri S blimp on eBay. I believe there is a piece or two missing from the viewfinder extension. Does anybody have a diagram or something as to how the extension is supposed to work?

Thanks,

Richard

ARRI made a couple of different blimps for the Arriflex 16S, and a few other companies did as well. If you have one of the ARRI made blimps, is it the Blimp 16 or the Studio Universal Blimp 16? The straight Blimp 16 was the more popular one.

You can see a diagram of the Blimp 16 with a camera inside if you look at page 8 and page 9 of the 1957 Arriflex 16S catalog at the www.Arri16S.com web site. Also take a look at page 14 of the 1963 Arriflex 16S catalog, which can be found at the same web site.

Hope that helps,

Thanks so much, Tim. That gave me the information I needed, and I'm happy to say that all the parts were there -- I just wasn't putting them together right.

Glad to help Richard. Once you get it all together and shoot some stuff with it, let us know how you like it. How quiet it is? If there is any image quality loss with the front sound proof glass?

Would be interested in your observations.

Thanks,
-Tim
