I'm looking to purchase a Sony PD170 but my big question is about the angle of view. I need a horizontal angle of view of at least 74degrees so if you can help me finding a way to calculation it with the ccd...the focal (mm)...the focal and... or just tell if it can do it and if not what lens a i need for it! Thanks for your help budies!

It's safe to say you're going to need a wide angle attachment. The PD 170 uses a 1/3" sensor, so you can figure focal length equivalents from there.

A quick check with the American Cinematographer Manual shows 2/3" video needs 6mm to show 75 degrees horizontally. That would be 3mm on 1/3."

There are some pretty cool fisheye attachments out there if you want to go even wider...
