Does anyone know if there are any restrictions using the Genesis pointed at intense sources i.e. the sun? Is it robust like a conventional chip camera, or vulnerable like a tube camera?

It has exhibited vertical smearing with bright sources in the past. I don't know if that shortcoming has been improved recently or not. Otherwise, it's basically a chip camera -- and even that you don't want to point at the sun for too long!
