if I could I would buy it and shoot all my home movies on it--but it's a little too pricey. anyway, which place has the best deals on rentals? how much does it cost for a weekend..including all the necessary acessories?

Well since many people shot home movies on 16mm in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, I guess there's nothing to stop you from using an Arriflex SR2 to make home movies with if you have the $$$. Dare I ask why?

You're in the best place in the world to rent filmmaking equipment. Why don't you shop around all the rental houses?

snoop around the rental houses and see if you can get any deals on used ones.
