This film looks absolutely amazing. Every single shot. If you get a chance, go see it in the theatre. Any thoughts on this film; lighting, compositions, etc?

The nitrate print I saw of this in the 70's was possibly the most beautiful B&W print I have seen.

Also it's my favorite Dreyer.

I can't say much about the lighting from this memory (& have only seen 16mm reduction prints since this); my memories are of textures, tonalities. Which is perhaps how to think about classical lighting anyway !

People, spaces - a film about light into darkness, darkness into light...
