Hi Matthew
No Panavision did not make any 8mm they did make a 16mm version called the Elaine
Panavision never sold cameras they only rented them out

The only S8 that looks like a Panaflex was the Bolex 150 series

And really the only reason why they made the Elaine was to capitalize off of students who wanted to use them. It's a good substute for a CP-16 or Arri 16BL for film students. After all they only made 6 Elaines and of those 1 remains stolen.

Where did you hear this? I don't really have any information to the contrary, but these cameras do get used quite a bit. If they only have 5 that leaves them very little wiggle room if a few are out at one time and they have a problem with one. It just doesn't sound right to me....

I've heard of that camera. Have they become that well known with only 6 having ever been made?
