Is a Bolex bayonet mount, say found on an EL, the same as an Arri bayonet mount?

Are the lenses interchangeable?

Thanks,

Kip

no...

Bayonet refers to a system where two interlocking 'shapes' are sorta wedged together (one on the lens, one on the camera)... It can be any system really but not simply the friction found in a screw mount...

The two systems you specified are indeed of a different design and adaptors are required... There is the further issue of wide and normal lenses for the EL are collimated to allow for the prism finder in the bolex RX cameras and will not be optically neato with any other camera until they have been re-collimated (a rear focus adjustment) - the reverse holds true also, especialy when shooting wide open

There are many, many different types of bayonet mounts found on cameras, both movie cameras and still cameras. There are adapters available for some mounts which solves at least some of the compatibility problems.
