Reel Music Question

I've noticed that it's common practice for people to use commercial music in their reels. I'm thinking of doing the same thing but am wondering if I'm running the risk of getting a "Take down the music or else," notice. Has anybody ever run into this problem?

I've been using non-cleared music in my reel for years and never had an issue.

My reel is on Youtube and MySpace.

The thing to remember is that, while it might seem like a lot of people will watch your reel, very few people (in the grand scheme of music licensing) ever do.

So, where you to enter you reel in a festival, or try and put it on a DVD that you were going to sell and make a profit on, you'd have an issue.

But, for purely self-promotional use on your website, I haven't heard of anyone having an issue using uncleared music.
