I am shooting interiors and exteriors with a SONY Z1 with available light most of the time and I was wondering if there are some special settings for controlling clipping of extreme highlights like sunlight coming through a window.
The only way to control the highlight compression is through the PICTURE PRESET menu, under the CINEMATONE section. there are 2 settings, each compress the highlights a little bit more.
The problem with this setting is that its also compress the blacks so you loose details in the
I advice you not to use any of those settings because you loose latitude . underexpose a little bit just to retain the details in the highlights as much as you can. In my experience this camera normally (without CINEMATONE) handles the highlights very well , compared to the DVX100 for instance.
